The appointment of Lord Frost as a cabinet minister with responsibility for relations with the EU is to be welcomed. He will also replace Michael Gove as co-chair of the partnership council, the body responsible for settling disputes arising from the UK-EU trade agreement. That is no snub to Michael Gove, who has earned plaudits from Brexiteers for his Brexit efforts and has now been given the challenging task of re-energising the public services post-Covid.
