Anyone remember the film Bulworth? It was about the last decent thing Warren Beatty did. He played a washed up US senator who goes rogue in a rather amusing way. You wouldn’t quite call it a masterpiece, but it was founded on a premise of pure genius, as intriguing now as it was then, if not more so – what would happen if a politician suddenly started telling the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth?

The film’s message clearly resonated, according to the New York Times, in 2013 Barack Obama had in private “talked lovingly” of “going Bulworth”.

This made me wonder if all politicians felt like Obama did, and what would happen if they were all magically released from their prison.

So, for fun, let’s imagine a different kind of “General Election Leader’s Question Time” to what was served up last week, and a rather more entertaining edition, where all four party leaders suddenly “go Bulworth”.

Cue dreamy music, the images on the TV screen dissolve, then magically reform….

Fiona Bruce: And let’s take our first question from the audience. You sir, what would you like to ask?
