James Brokenshire, the former housing and Northern Ireland secretary, has died at the age of 53.
Brokenshire, who was elected MP for Old Bexley and Sidcup in 2005, had stepped down as Security Minister in July after admitting his recovery from lung cancer was “taking longer than expected”. He was diagnosed in 2018 and stepped down from the frontbench to focus on his health.
