The new Deputy Prime Minister Therese Coffey has made headlines this morning, after her phone started to blare out a Dr Dre song live on air during an LBC interview with Nick Ferrari.
Coffey, who has just been appointed as health secretary and Deputy PM, had to interrupt Ferrari’s question, as she attempted to turn off her alarm.
“I’ve just realised my alarm is going off on my phone, you’re getting a bit of Dr Dre. It’s just an 8 o’clock alarm,” she said.

Dr Dre – born six years before Coffey – is an American rapper, record producer and entrepreneur, who sought fame in the late 1980s with the Rap group N.W.A alongside others such as ICE Cube, Eazy-E.
Dre, worth well into the hundreds of millions, is quite the renaissance man when it comes to the music industry; The rapper has enjoyed a glittering solo career, as well as success as a record producer and co-founder of Beats Electronics, which was sold to Apple for $3.4bn in 2014.
Dre has also been accused of a number of incidents of violence against women – which, perhaps, is not the ideal image for a new minister to portray.
With her penchant for hip hop revealed, this begs the question: is Therese Coffey… cool?
