Labour delegates are descending on the Brighton seafront this weekend for the party’s annual conference – its first physical gathering since Sir Keir Starmer became leader.

This year’s conference, taking place from Saturday to Wednesday next week at the Brighton Centre and the Hilton Brighton Metropole, is being touted as a do-or-die moment for Starmer.

Last year’s event had to be cancelled due to coronavirus, but Starmer is hoping to use his first in-person speech to relaunch his bid to become Labour’s first prime minister since Gordon Brown.
