Labour is expected to win a landslide victory in next year’s general election, according to a bombshell new poll.
Keir Starmer’s party could win as many as 470 seats, leaving the Tories with a puny 129.
The MRP poll from Focaldata, commissioned by Best For Britain, which excludes Northern Ireland, is the first of its kind to take into account new constituency changes which will come into force at the next election. It also asked a larger-than-average sample size of 10,140 people.
The analysis found that, should undecided voters stump for the Conservatives, Labour would still be historically the largest party in a hung parliament with a predicted 401 seats.
The “worst case scenario” (for Labour) still had them on 316 seats to the Conservatives’ 286.
However, the poll also showed that Sunak has salvaged some support since the chaos of Liz Truss’s short premiership, with a small increase in support for the Tories since the last survey.
But trends in Scotland show a steep fall in support for the SNP with them only picking up 26 seats and consequently strong gains for Labour in Scottish marginal seats. Kevin Pringle, the SNP’s new spin doctor, has a mighty task on his hands. As does Rishi Sunak.Â
