BY John Dickens   /  23 May 2020

Professor Ray Monk’s 1991 prize-winning Wittgenstein: The Duty of Genius is a book on philosophy that that is accessible to the layman, because Monk writes in a style that engages the reader, mixing the biographical elements of Wittgenstein’s life with the concepts and theories that shaped his thinking.

One particularly fascinating insight is provided when Monk explains how Wittgenstein was influenced by his early reading of Austrian philosopher Oto Weininger’s 1903 book
