Health experts have expressed concern about the government’s plan to introduce voluntary mass lateral flow testing of students when schools reopen on 8 March.

Among them is Professor Allyson Pollock, a Public Health Professor at Newcastle University and a former member of Independent SAGE. She told Reaction: “The government has bought hundreds of millions of tests at a cost of billions and billions of pounds, and it doesn’t know what to do with them so it’s throwing them out into the population, having not evaluated them properly in community settings.”
