Mhairi Black, deputy leader of the SNP group at Westminster, has accused two of the leadership contenders in the party’s race to succeed Nicola Sturgeon of Donald Trump-esque behavior.Â
Kate Forbes and Ash Regan have both raised concerns about the transparency of a process that started out shambolic and has become scandalous.
Black is having none of it.
Writing in The National, Scotland’s pro-independence notional newspaper, she says: “To question the integrity of a democratic election without any basis to do so is straight out of the Donald Trump playbook. The decision by both Kate Forbes and Ash Regan’s campaigns to bring the validity of the voting system into disrepute debases the whole party and has done nothing but hand opponents of independence more weapons to batter us over the head with.”There are still ten days to go in the leadership contest.
