Justin Trudeau’s election campaign is taking a nosedive – as is his reputation as the golden boy of liberalism. His gamble to call a snap poll was already backfiring – with the Conservative candidate, Erin O’Toole, drawing neck-and-neck with the Liberals – even before the latest embarrassment.
Now, on the day of the vote, another image of the Canadian Prime Minister in blackface has emerged. The picture shows a 29-year-old Trudeau beaming in a white turban at a 2001 “Arabian Night’s” party at the West Point Grey Academy, Vancouver. Two years ago, a similar picture of the PM from the same event was revealed. Unlike the last inflammatory snap, the latest is in glorious colour.

This is the fourth occasion Trudeau has been exposed wearing dark make-up on camera. He has already admitted on multiple occasions that his previous behaviour was racist, saying he “deeply, deeply” regretted it.
Yet this fresh snap shows that Trudeau has failed to draw a line under his questionable choice of party attire. For his opponents, it’s a gift that keeps on giving.
