In life, I’m increasingly convinced that only two things are certain; death and the extraordinary hypocrisy of the SNP. That being said I’ve met both scientists and theologians who earnestly believe the former can be overcome. Every nationalist believes their nation is in some sense special and unique. But Scottish nationalists go one step further and apply this not just to Scotland, but to their ideology itself. Scottish nationalism, they argue, isn’t like other nationalisms. It’s inherently progressive, inclusive and internationalist. Any comparison to “reactionary” British nationalism should be rejected.
Certainly this seems to be the view of SNP leader Nichola Sturgeon.
