Has there ever been a Vice-Presidential debate that has confused quite as many people quite so quickly? Has there also been one that will be forgotten quite so soon?
The outcome of the match-up of JD Vance versus Tim Walz was that one or the other man won. There is no consensus. Partisan media have simply made claims for their man. Megyn Kelly said she couldn’t “remember a better debate performance than the one [J.D. Vance] is delivering tonight”. Jump over to MSNBC for some post-debate analysis, however, and there was no doubt who they thought had won. Rachel Maddow claimed that “On every issue on substance, J.D. Vance was very polished and very slick” but that “Tim Walz beat him on all the substantive points.”
