Donald Trump has spent nine years arguing about nothing
GOP is in such a deep hibernation one wonders how it will fare should it ever wake up.
So, here we go. The last Thursday before votes get counted in the US election. Five days before the next presidential cycle begins and Tucker Carlson becomes the new Great White Hope of the American right. This is the column where any sensible pundit would change the subject, talk about Rachel Reeves's first budget, or try to find a reason to be cheerful if you ever travel by bus. You would certainly try to avoid calling next week’s result.
The approach taken by many polling operations, newspapers, and pundits is to say it’s “too close to call”. That covers everybody’s back. But where’s the fun in that?
So, Trump or Harris? Harris or Trump? We must have a winner next week.
Right to the wire, the polls continue to tell us nothing. Harris is supposedly leading by about three points, which is right on the line between winning and losing for the Dems. Swing state polling gives Trump the edge. It’s going to be a nail-biter…if you believe the polls.
But there’s so much more to this than polls.
