Sebastian Coe is a sporting legend in a league of his own
Coe was instrumental in ensuring the London Olympics was a success and he will protect women's sports if he is crowned IOC President.
Two Eighties sporting legends have been much in the news of late, as they embark on new chapters in their hugely successful post-champ careers. One we may hear a little less of in the future, the other a little more. Hopefully.
I refer, of course, to Gary Lineker and Sebastian Coe, the footballer and the middle-distance runner, who became, respectively, a millionaire TV presenter and podcast entrepreneur, a Tory MP, the London 2012 Olympic Games supremo and president of World Athletics.
