I hope that life in lockdown is treating you well.

I want to thank Reaction’s subscribers for giving us such strong support before and during the crisis.

At Reaction we depend on our subscribers, and we have seen a very healthy increase in numbers since the start of lockdown.

Throughout the crisis our editorial team and writers have made personal sacrifices to maintain and increase coverage. I’m biased in their favour, of course, but they have done outstanding work.

Reaction didn’t make use of the government furlough scheme. We didn’t need to.

We have taken out a small loan via the government-backed business interruption scheme.

That will enable us to pay for the next round of our Student Programme, where we hire and train smart youngsters keen to make their way in journalism.

We were inundated with applications for our paid Summer internships, and two more young journalists start with Reaction in the middle of this month.
