Role and Responsibilities

AJI organises a large number of events each year, and as a Project Manager you will have a key role in the execution of the institute’s core activities. The Project Manager will be responsible for researching, planning, marketing, and delivering scholarly events of the highest quality, including seminars, round table discussions, and conferences. Participants are typically high-profile international scholars, diplomats, and politicians. The Project Manager role is a new position within AJI, and as such, will provide a great opportunity for ambitious candidates to develop, grow and establish the direction of their career. The Project Manager reports directly to the Director of AJI, Dr Mattias Hessérus. You will have a broad and challenging role which will include:

• Working closely with the director in developing, managing, and following up AJI’s network and activities

• Initiating topics, planning, conducting background research, developing, and executing events within AJI’s focus areas

• Sourcing and managing the required internal and third-party products, and services, to secure delivery

• Producing content and communicating AJI’s activities on all channels, including social media, the Institute’s website, and external media 

Requirements: 

• Proven track record of working independently on international group-level projects; preferably within academia, government, or NGOs

• Master’s degree from a leading university in a relevant field

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Proficiency in other European languages is considered a merit

• A self-motivated and driven person who is responsible, accountable and has a result-oriented mindset

• Ability to organise, coordinate, and work independently, with high capacity and quality

• Analytical and structured

• Excellent communication skills

• Enjoys organising social gatherings and building networks

• Keen interest in AJI’s field of work and subject matter areas 

About AJI

AJI is a consortium comprised of the Axel and Margaret Ax:son Johnson Foundation for Public Benefit and four research centres at leading universities: the Centre for Geopolitics at the University of Cambridge, the Henry A. Kissinger Center for Global Affairs at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies in Washington D.C., the Centre for Grand Strategy in the Department of War Studies at King’s College London, and the Center for Statecraft and Strategic Communication at the Stockholm School of Economic. AJI supports the research of emerging scholars, convenes dialogues between policymakers and leading analysts of foreign policy on pressing strategic problems, and builds a growing intellectual community that spans the Atlantic. Project managers can work from our offices in Stockholm or London. The role will require international travel on a regular basis.
