The EU has derailed trade talks: Britain must get ready for no deal

The notion that imminent deadlines concentrate minds does not seem to apply to negotiations involving the European Union, or Emmanuel Macron in particular. As the passage of time takes the Brexit pendulum into the red zone, the period after 15 October when Boris Johnson said it would be time to draw stumps in the trade deal talks to focus on preparations for a WTO exit, posturing is still taking precedence over substantive bargaining.
