One might assume that any body that – within a month of being set up – accrues over a million pounds in public donations would be subject to fairly strict regulation to ensure such funds weren’t misused. At the least one might expect a degree of transparency about the organisers, their aims, and plans of action.
However, this is not the case. To date the BLMUK GoFundMe has accrued over £1.1 million in donations and is still racking up more. However, the campaign is not formally affiliated with – or even connected to – the official US BLM umbrella organisation.
