With the rain falling across much of Britain, the temptation to try and make a dash for the sun is strong. But anyone looking at the rules can be forgiven for feeling confused. What are the UK rules on holidaying abroad? For Reaction members, Bill Bowkett disentangles what’s possible.
There’s some good news. Seven more countries are now on the green list, under the traffic light system for travel, including Germany and Austria. Countries such as India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have also moved from red to amber. The news comes a month after Grant Shapps, the transport secretary, unveiled plans to scrap quarantine rules for fully vaccinated passengers arriving from amber-list destinations.
