Government ministers are said to be gearing up to intervene in the controversial $40 billion takeover of British chip designer, Arm, by the US giant Nvidia because of threats to national security.
Sources close to the deal claim the government will refer the sale of the Cambridge based Arm to Nvidia to the Competition and Markets Authority for further scrutiny.
