The former Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi has died aged 86. The billionaire tycoon first came to power in 1994 and went on to lead four governments until 2011 in a career that was plagued by corruption charges and sex scandals.
Italian media reported that he died in the San Raffaele hospital in Milan after treatment for a lung infection thought to be related to leukemia.
