We need to talk about Russia. For the past two months, for very understandable reasons, Western discourse on the Russia-Ukraine war has been focused on the heroism of the Ukrainians defending their motherland, in a David and Goliath conflict that has mesmerised an admiring world. Who would have expected events to unfold in this way, especially when Ukraine’s war leader is a former television comedian?
