A man sits at a piano and sings:

“Once there was a song, the song yearned to be sung”.

What is this song, that is so vital that it forces itself into existence? For one thing, it’s the song of forty years of searching, and nor is it for the faint-hearted. Over that time Nick Cave has developed a reputation as one of our greatest living songwriters, largely by staring deeper into himself than most of us would dare to do. In conjunction with his band, the Bad Seeds, he has created music that is incendiary and music that is shattering, a sonic incarnation of life at the nasty end of the mortal coil.
