When the government of a component nation of the United Kingdom
provokes the headline in one of America’s leading journals “Scotland’s
Government Slashes Away at Liberty”, it is cause for serious concern.

The increasingly undemocratic behaviour of Nicola Sturgeon’s
administration and the authoritarian tendencies it is exhibiting, as
well as its general incompetence, the scandal engulfing the First
Minister and the internecine feuding within the SNP are reminiscent of
conditions in a dysfunctional Central Asian republic. The alarming
reality, behind all the chauvinist rhetoric and spin, is that Sturgeon
is leading Scotland along the path to failed statehood.
