Flight Pattern

Royal Opera House stream, available now

Canadian choreographer Crystal Pite first created Flight Pattern for The Royal Ballet in 2017. This special stream of the production is presented in support of Ukraine, and all net proceeds will go to the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC). This large-scale ensemble work, which takes a powerful and sombre look at ongoing refugee crises, is set to Górecki’s “Symphony of Sorrowful Songs”, music often associated with the Holocaust. Pite gives his music news meaning using a large ensemble that moves as one body until one distraught couple is marked out from the crowd. Buy tickets here.
